CAUTION
After adjusting the chain tension, check that the drivetrain runs smoothly. To do this,
grasp the saddle, lift the rear wheel and check the resistance of the drivetrain by turning
the cranks. It should run smoothly and rotate with steady resistance. If the resistance
in the drivetrain is too high, check the chain tension (see the section on checking the
chain tension) and the brake adjustment (see Section 10.4). Failure to observe this
information can result in faulty function, material damage, dangerous situations
and injury.
WARNING
After adjusting the chain tension, check the alignment of the brake pads against the
braking surface on the rim (see Section 10.4). Failure to observe this information can
result in material damage, severe damage to health (danger to life) or death.
103 Handlebars, headset and fork
The headset, located in the head tube, connects the fork to the frame and enables the handle-
bars to turn easily. During riding, it is subjected to heavy loads and must therefore be properly
positioned. The woom bike must be inspected by a specialist if the headset or the handlebars
wobble or have play,
can no longer be turned easily or are dicult to move.
After adjusting the chain ten-
sion, check that the wheel is
centred in the frame. To do
so, measure the distance bet-
ween the tyre and the left and
right chainstays. The distance
should be the same on both
sides.
Tighten all four fastening
bolts on the left and right
dropouts to the required
torque.
Applies to US models only:
Tighten the torque arm bolt
on the left chainstay to the re-
quired torque.
