10�4 Brakes
WARNING
Have repairs and adjustments to brakes carried out by trained professionals only.
Brake pads must not come into contact with oil or grease. Be careful not to touch hot
surfaces. Failure to observe this information can result in material damage, severe
damage to health (danger to life) or death.
The braking surface and brake pads are both susceptible to wear and tear, so they need to
be inspected at regular intervals (see Chapter 11). The brakes must be checked or serviced
by a specialist in any case if:
the brake pads are worn to the indicator (WEAR LINE).
the brake lever touches the handlebars when braking.
the brakes screech or vibrate.
the braking power decreases.
the brakes "oat", i.e. have a variable bite point.
