Paper Jam Messages

Message Meaning Suggested solutions
Paper Jam
in Tray 1
Paper has jammed in the paper feed
area.
Clear the jam (see Paper Tray 1 on
page 96).
Paper Jam
in Tray 2
Paper has jammed in the optional tray. Clear the jam (see Paper Tray 2 on
page 97).
Paper Jam
in Bypass
Paper has jammed in the multi-purpose
tray.
Clear the jam (see Bypass Tray on page 98).
Jam
inside machine
Paper has jammed in the inside machine. Clear the jam (see Inside the Machine on
page 98).
Jam
in exit area
Paper has jammed in the paper exit area. Clear the jam (see Output Area on
page 99).

bottom of duplex
Paper has jammed in the duplex area. Clear the jam (see Duplex Unit Area on
page 100).
Message Meaning Suggested solutions
Install Print
Cartridge
A print cartridge is not installed. Install a print cartridge.
Invalid Print
Cartridge
The print cartridge you have installed is
not for your machine.
Install a Xerox-genuine print cartridge,
designed for your machine.
Replace Print
Cartridge
The print cartridge has almost reached
its estimated life. The machine might
stop printing.
You can choose Stop or Continue as shown
on the control panel. If you select Stop, the
printer stops printing and you cannot print
any more without changing the cartridge. If
you select Continue, the printer keeps
printing but the printing quality cannot be
guaranteed.
Replace the print cartridge for the best print
quality when this message appears (see
Replacing the Print Cartridge on page 89).
If the machine stops printing, replace the
print cartridge (see Replacing the Print
Cartridge on page 89).
Order Print
Cartridge
Small amount of toner is left in the print
cartridge.
Order a new cartridge for replacement. You
may temporarily increase the printing
quality by redistributing the toner (see
Redistributing Toner on page 94).
