Note: One bolt must be removed prior to
rotating No. 1 piston to TDC position.
6. Remove one bolt (Figure 5-88, (1)).

7. Remove plug (Figure 5-89) from timing case
cover.
8. Rotate crankshaft counterclockwise 45°.

9. Use a wrench (Figure 5-90, (2)) to turn exhaust
camshaft (Figure 5-90, (1)) in direction of arrow
to compress the timing chain tensioner.

10. While holding the exhaust camshaft rotated,
secure the tensioner in place using special tool
OEM No. 11 3 340 (Figure 5-91).
