8.7 Architectures of NeXspan with SIP phones
The SIP phones are declared in the iPBX (NCS or NeXspan), but are connected via the SIP
access point. This SIP access point can be hosted by NCS, the IPS card of a NeXspan or
NeXspan SIP Access Point (NSAP).
The SIP phones must be connected to the SIP access point corresponding to the NeXspan site on
which them subscription is declared.

The SIP phones are connected either on a phone VLAN, or a Data VLAN in 802.1Q if a PC is
connected. They are connected to the SIP Proxy located in NCS.
A TFTP server is also included in NCS (PumpKIN freeware). It allows you to download SIP phones
(firmware and configuration).
A DHCP server for providing IP addresses, and an NTP server for setting time on the devices must
be accessible from the ToIP VLAN.
A level 3 Ethernet switch is used for inter-VLAN routing, as well as DHCP relay for devices outside
the Data VLAN.
