10 AASTRA PHONE 312
Aastra Phone 312 enables you to make phone calls via SIP on a WLAN (wireless local area
network).
You can make phone calls via the Internet using VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Connection is
set up via the access points (AP) of a wireless local area network. Since the handset itself uses
Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), connections must be set up via the SIP server or SIP phone
installations that also support this protocol.
The following requirements apply to WLAN access points:
Wireless network management standard IEEE 802.11g (strongly recommended) or IEEE
802.11b
Compatibility with WPA2 (recommended), WPA1 and WEP encoding as well as non-coded
operation
For WPA, compatibility with PSK and Pre-Shared Key-based authentication
The access points must support and have activated WME (Wireless Media Extensions), also
known as WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) or 802.11e. If not, the autonomy of the storage batteries will
be reduced significantly during communication and there may be a fall in the voice quality.
Note:
Like all wireless telephones this handset uses radio signals, which does not always guarantee
connection setup.
In general, if you MUST make a call (for instance, in case of medical emergency), you should not
rely fully on wireless telephones.
