steering system or steering column
modifications (e.g.: installation of
anti-theft device) that could badlyaffect
performance and safety, invalidate
the warranty and also result in non-
compliance of the car with type-approval
requirements.

Before performing anymaintenance
operations, always turn off the engine and
remove the key from the ignition to lock
the steering column(especially when the
car wheels are not touching the ground). If
this is not possible (for example if the key
needs to be turnedto MARor the engine
must be running), remove the main fuse
that protects the electric power steering.
SPORTFUNCTION
When the SPORTbutton (1) fig. 97
is pressed the sports driving
setting is turned on featuring more
responsiveness during acceleration,
an increase in drivetorque and more
precise steering with greater effort
required on the steering wheel.

When this functionis on, the word
SPORT (1) fig. 98 islit up in the display
and the instrument panel shows a
dedicated screen.
Press the button again to turn the
function off and restore the normal
driving setting.
WARNING If the engine is switched
off in SPORT or NORMAL mode, the
system will set toNORMAL mode the
next time the engine is started.
WARNING When the SPORT button is
pressed, the function is activated about
5 seconds later.

WARNING Duringacceleration, when
the SPORT functionis used, the
steering may shudder, which is typical
of a sports setting.
NOTE For vehiclesequipped with
an Akrapovic exhaust system, a
considerable increase in engine sound
can be heard when the SPORT mode
is activated. This iscaused by opening
the valve located in the Akrapovic
exhaust, which improves performance.
