Procedure with automated cleaning
The following operating state and the following prerequisites have been tested and ap-
proved by ABB Turbo Systems for cleaning operations:
u Set the engine load as follows:
¡ Turbine mass flow M
Turb
≈ 4.1 kg/s
¡ Turbine pressure ratio PIT ≈ 1.1
¡ Turbine inlet temperature between 380 … 430 °C
Fig.25: Cleaning cycle of turbine and nozzle ring with load ramp
u As soon as the turbine inlet temperature is stable and less than 430 °C, wait for least 10
additional minutes for the turbine-end turbocharger components to cool down.
u Start the cleaning cycle according to the following description Wet cleaning procedure.
u Continuously increase the engine load during washing:
¡ Turbine mass flow M
Turb
≈ 6.5 kg/s
¡ Turbine pressure ratio PIT = 1.6 … 2.0
¡ Turbine inlet temperature <430 °C
