Self-Test Procedures
Power-On Self-Test
Each time the instrument is powered on, a small set of self-tests are
performed. These tests check that the minimum set of logic and
measurement hardware are functioning properly. Any plug-in
modules installed are verified for two-way communication with the
main controller.
Complete Self-Test
Hold down any front panel key for 5 seconds while turning on the
power to perform a complete self-test. The instrument beeps when
the test starts. If all self-tests pass the display shows PASS for
five seconds and the instrument returns to the last measurement
function.
Plug-in Module Self-Test
No user self-test exists for the plug-in modules. The plug-in modules
perform their own self-test when power is applied. Additionally, the
mainframe checks two-way communication with all plug-in modules
at power on.
Each plug-in module also performs error checking at regular
intervals during operation and any errors detected are reported via
the status system to the main controller.
