Maximum FM
Deviation
(F
or
B-Series
Only)
Description
and
Procedure
In
this
pro
cedure,
the
syn
thesizer's
RF
output
is
monitored
directly
on
a
spectrum
analyzer
for
lo
w
FM
rates.
The FM
amplitude is
increased un
til the
maxim
um
deviation
exceeds
the
specication.
F
or higher
FM
rates,
the
FM
rate
is
set
so
that
a
Bessel
n
ull
o
ccurs
when
the
RF p
eak
deviation
equals
the
sp
ecication.
The
mo
dulation
amplitude
is
increased
in order
to pass
through
the
correct
Bessel
null
for the
FM rate
used
and
the
p
eak
deviation
sp
ecied.
