OmniSwitch 6860 Hardware Users Guide May 2014 page 4-3
Supported Configurations
The OmniSwitch BPS can be used to provide redundancy to the OmniSwitch 6860 in multiple
configurations as described below:
• Single OmniSwitch 6860 Virtual Chassis (VC), from one to eight switches
• One to eight standalone switches (i.e, not connected as a VC)
• A maximum of three OS-BPS power shelves can be supported in a single VC
• A single OS-BPS can be used by multiple VCs simultaneously (two VCs of up to four
switches each)
Note. OS-BPS chassis-level configurations(e.g., firmware upgrades and mode changes) can be executed
from any VC connected to the OS-BPS and the new configurations will reflect in all switches or VCs
connected to the same OS-BPS.
Unsupported Configurations
• Partial virtual chassis (only slave units are connected to OmniSwtich BPS, but not the master)
• A mix of virtual chassis and non-virtual chassis based switches
• The OS-BPS does not currently support PoE
