Upgrading Firmware from a Computer
This section shows how to use the Firmware Upgrade Wizard to
upgrade firmware in a connected PanelView Plus terminal from a
computer using a serial or Ethernet connection (using RSLinx
Enterprise for supported protocols).
1. Establish a serial or Ethernet connection to a desktop computer.
The serial connection uses the 2711-NC13 or 2706-NC13 cable or
equivalent.
2. Start the Firmware Upgrade Wizard and select Upgrade
firmware on terminal. Press Next>.
3. Select Serial connection to use a direct serial connection,
Ethernet connection to use a direct Ethernet link, or Network
connection using RSLinx Enterprise to perform the upgrade
over a network.
• After selecting Serial connection, select a computer port
(COM1, COM2) from the Communication port list to use for
the upgrade and then press Next>.
• After selecting Ethernet connection, specify the terminal’s
IP address and select Next>.
• After selecting Network connection using RSLinx
Enterprise, press Next>. The RSLinx Communication screen
opens. Select a valid PanelView Plus terminal from the list
and press Next>.
