Maintenance
7 Maintenance
For pumps in explosion hazard areas ( ATEX additional
instructions).
Trained service technicians are available for tting and
repair jobs. Presen t a pumped medium certicate (DIN
safety data sheet o r safety certicate) when requesting
service.
7.1 Inspections
The inspection intervals depend on the o perational strain
on the pump.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to running pump!
Do not touch the running pump.
Do not carry out any work on the running pump.
WARNING
Risk of injury and poisoning due to hazardous pumped
media!
Use personal protective equipment when carrying ou t any
work on the pump.
1. Check at appropriate intervals:
Maintenance of minimum ow rate
Temperature of an tifriction bearings < 1 20 °C
Normal operating conditi ons uncha nged
No impermissible vibrations
2. For trouble-free opera tion, always ensure the following:
No dry running
–Noleaks
No cavitation
Suction-side gate valves open
Unclogged and clean lters
–Sufcient supply pressure
No unusual runn ing noises or vibrations
No overloading of the system
No excessive leakage at the shaft seal
Proper functioning of auxiliary systems
3. Put the installed stand-by pump into operation at least once
a week
7.2 Maintenance
The stub shaft of the pump and the motor shaft are con-
nected rmly together. Notes on maintenance of the bear-
ing ( operating manual of the motor manufacturer).
Service life of the anti friction bearings for operation within
the permissible operating range : > 2 years of intermittent
operation, high tempera tu res, low viscosities and agg res-
sive ambient and process conditions reduce the service life
of antifriction bearings.
Mechanical seals are subject to natural wear, which
strongly depends on the actual operating condi tions.
Therefore, general statements regarding their service l ife
cannot be made.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to running pump!
Do not touch the running pump.
Do not c arry out any work o n the running pump.
Isolate the motor from its supply voltage and keep it locked
in that state wh en carrying out any tting or maintenance
work.
DANGER
Risk of death due to electric shock!
Have all electrical work carried out by qualied el ectricians
only.
WARNING
Risk of injury and poisoning due to hazardous or hot
pumped media!
Use personal protective equipment when carrying ou t any
work on the pump.
Allow the pump to cool down before commencing any work.
Make sure the pump is unpressurized.
Empty the pump, sa fe ly collect the pump ed medium and
dispose of it in accordance with environmental rul es and
requirements.
7.2.1 Antifriction bearing
As a preca ution, rep lace antifriction bearings with lifetime
lubrication every 2 years (recommended).
7.2.2 Mechanical seals
Mechanical seals have functional leaks ( manufacturer's
specications).
In the event of a larger leak: replace the m echanical seal
and its auxi liary seals and ch eck the integrity of the auxiliary
systems.
