MAINTENANCE PULSE AIR SYSTEM - OPTION
The most important step to insure proper operation of the Pulse Air System is keeping the clean side of the filter
clean. Dirt inside the compressor reservoir system can lead to air leaks. Air leaks will prevent the system from
reaching the trigger pressure and then the system will stop working properly. (To check the trigger pressure
install a pressure gauge in the port on top of the reservoir, or use “time” as a gauge, a new system can fire in as
little as 10 seconds and should fire within 30 seconds.) Securing the filter properly is important, tighten the filter
enough to hold it in place securely.
TROUBLESHOOTING THE PULSE AIR SYSTEM
PROBLEM
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
Pressure not building up
1. Plugger Compressor Inlets, dirty diaphragm
valves, because of dirt build up on surface
of diaphragm valves.
2. Dirty compressor due to relief valve stuck
open.
1. Clean by blowing pressurized air in the
discharge jet when the system is off
(be careful, the air and dirt will blast out
the other two jets). This is only for
quick fixes, and runs the risk of dirt
getting into the rest of the system.
Remove the 4 bolts that hold the cap
on the diaphragm and clean it (Do not
lose the spring located between the
cap and the diaphragm, also there is
a roll pin that locates the cap). Clean
the plastic seal on the diaphragm and
check for damage on both the
diaphragm and the sealing surface on
the valve body. If the diaphragm
needs replaced, order part number
0880-727.
2. Remove the compressor valve and
clean it, solvents can be used in this
valve. Reinstall valve.
System seems to function
but one jet does not blast
quickly
1. Sticking solenoid
1. Clean with a dry silicone lubricant, do
not use oil on the solenoid plungers. If
this does not work, replace solenoids.
System builds pressure
but fails to fire
1. Pressure switch
1. Repair or replace
Air not being drawn into
both cylinders of the
compressor
1. Bad compressor
1. Repair or replace
