PULSE AIR SYSTEM OPERATION- Option
The Pulse Air System is a filter and filter cleaning system that works continuously to maintain airflow through
the filter. This is done by a blast of air being flushed backwards through a section of the filter on a regular basis.
The system operates by building up pressure in an air reservoir, when the given pressure is reached the air is
then dumped through the filter to clean it. There are two valves working together to cause the air blast. A spring
and the air pressure hold a large diaphragm valve on top of the reservoir closed as pressure builds up. A small air
passage allows the pressure to the back side of the diaphragm, when the given pressure is reached a small
solenoid valve (which is connected to the back of the side of the diaphragm) is opened, this lowers the pressure
on the backside and allows the large port on the front of the diaphragm to open quickly to allow air to escape
through the discharge jet. Then an electronic module which is connected to the system controls which jet fires
next.
The pressure switch controls the trigger pressure. Anything that could or would prevent the system from
reaching the trigger pressure would prevent the system from working. It is very important that the clean side of
the filter remain clean. Once the system is contaminated it is very difficult to cleanse all the dirt from the
system especially from inside the reservoir. When the system is shut off all the air is drained from the reservoir
to prevent condensation from building up inside the reservoir.
NOTE
After Stopping The Engine, Perform These Post Operation Checks.
POST OPERATION CHECK LIST
1. Clean debris hopper.
2. Check sweeping brooms for wear or damage.
3. Check all flaps for wear, damage and adjustment.
4. Fill the fuel tank.
5. Check all systems for leaks.
6. Close the LP storage tank valve. (LP Powered machines only)
WARNING
The Gasoline Tank Fill Cap Is Located Behind The Drivers Seat, Do Not Mistake The Hydraulic Reservoir For The
Gasoline Tank. Check items for proper operation. If service is required, please contact an authorized American-
Lincoln distributor.
