6. Remote Interface
6.1 Connection to PC
USB Communication Cable type A-B is required for connection of device to PC’s USB port.
USB cable type A-B
Communication Driver required by Windows XP or higher is
FTDI Virtual COM port (VCP) driver (Not Microsoft WHQL certified)
Driver is present in CD supplied with device – typically in DRIVER_USB subdirectory.
Driver can be found also in internet:
Newest version of required driver is available from FTDI website:

Maybe not actual but tested version of driver is available in Applied Precision’s website from link:
http://www.appliedp.com/download/driver/ftdi-vcp.zip
Driver Installation
- If windows ask for driver … navigate to driver subdirectory on supplied CD
- If driver downloaded from internet … unpack the zip file and install included executable file
COM port
New virtual COM port will appear in operating system after each connection of the device to PC if
driver is correctly installed.
Presence of this COM port can be checked in Device Manager of Windows.
Device Manager
COM port number (for example COM7) has to be chosen in all PC communication software for correct
operation.
