Preparing a new CompactFlash module
CompactFlash modules are available in various sizes from 4MB. Contact Arcom for
further information about these parts. Arcom recommends the use of SanDisk SDCFB-
xxx-201-80 CompactFlash cards (where xxx represents the CompactFlash size). These
devices are supplied completely blank without partition information, and must be
partitioned and formatted before they can be used. To do this, follow these steps:
1 Insert the new CompactFlash module into the socket on the under-side of the
SBC-GX1.
2 Start the FDISK utility by typing FDISK and then pressing Enter.
3 View the current partitions by pressing V.
4 Verify that disk 1 is the CompactFlash module and that it does not contain any
partitions. If partitions already exist, use the Delete all partitions option in the
FDISK menu to remove them.
5 Partition the CompactFlash module as required. The following table lists the
functions that are available as you do this:

Use all but 1 cylinder on the CompactFlash. If you are not using
the CompactFlash supplied with your development kit, you may
have to adjust this to suit. (EWF does not work properly if you use
all the cylinders.)

Create a single partition using the entire CompactFlash.
N
Return to the FDISK menu.
M
Write the master boot code.
S
Save the changes and restart.
