Troubleshooting
Problem Cause Corrective Action
Saw will not start. Power cord is not plugged in. Plug saw in.
Fuse or circuit breaker tripped. Replace fuse or reset tripped cir-
cuit breaker.
Cord damaged. Have cord replaced by an Autho-
rized Bosch Service Center or
Service Station.
Burned out switch. Have switch replaced by an Au-
thorized Bosch Service Center or
Service Station.
Other. Have the tool reviewed by an Au-
thorized Bosch Service Center or
Service Station.
Blade does not come up to
speed.
Extension cord too light or too
long.
Replace with adequate cord.
Low house voltage. Contact your electric company.
Excessive vibration. Blade Bevel Lock Handle 3 not
tightened.

The Blade 31 is out of balance. Discard the Blade 31 and use a
different Blade 31.
The saw is not mounted securely
to the stand or workbench.
Tighten all mounting hardware.

The Arbor Nut 52 not tightened
properly.
Tighten the Arbor Nut 52. (See
“Changing the Blade” on page
20.)
Cannot make square cut when
crosscutting.
The Miter Gauge 14 is not adjust-
ed properly.
See “Miter Gauge Adjustment” on
page 32.
Cut binds, burns, stalls motor
when ripping.
The Blade 31 is dull. Replace Blade 31. (See “Changing
the Blade” on page 20.)
Warped board. Make sure the concave or hollow
side is facing DOWN, and feed
slowly.
The Rip Fence 9 is not parallel to
the Blade 31.

The Riving Knife 25 is out of
alignment.
See “Adjusting the Riving Knife“
on page 35.
Cut not true at 90° or 45°
positions.
The bevel stops are not adjusted
properly.
See “Adjusting 0° and 45° Posi-
tive Stops” on page 37.
Bevel Stops not engaged. Ensure Bevel Stops are engaged.
To avoid accidents, always disconnect plug from power source before trouble-
shooting.
