1) Check fuse F5. Replace blown fuse.
2) Check generator supply fuses (See schematic.) If either fuse is blown, check the
transformer wiring for short circuits or frayed or broken wires. Replace blown fuses.
3) Check generator board fuse. Replace blown fuse.
4) Check diodes. Use an ohmmeter set to diode check function to check the forward an
d
r
everse voltage on each diode. Refer to Figure 5-1 for diode polarity and nomenclature.
The forward voltage from Anode (A) to Cathode (C) should be .40 to .70 volts. The
forward voltage from Cathode (C) to Anode (A) should be none (OPEN circuit.) Replace
diodes that fall outside of this range.
5) Inspect the generator board for wires with breaks or frays and clads that are loose or
have cracks or burn spots. Replace generator board if any of these problems are found.
6) Check transistors.
Note: The transistors can be checked while in the circuit. It is not necessary to remove them from
the generator.
Use an ohmmeter set to diode check function to measure each transistor. Note that the -
lead on the meter is normally labeled “com”. Refer to figure 5-1 for transistor location
and nomenclature.

Replace any transistor if the measurement falls outside the limits shown.
