Figure 4-30 Measuring Inrush Current (2)
L NOTE
1. The fastest sampling rate of 66202 Power Meter is around 4
µ
s so if the maximum
Inrush current occurs within 4
µ
s, the 66202 Power Meter may miss the best
measurement time.
2. Besides using current level to trigger for Inrush Current test, external trigger can also be
used. The measurement starts when any of the trigger sources is triggered. See
Appendix A for external trigger signal pin assignment.
3. The AUTO range cann’t be fast enough when measuring Is. We suggest that the user
fix the shout selection and current range on High Shunt and 20A range.
4.5 Fan Detection
Since the maximum rating current of Model 66202 in 66200 Series Digital Power Meters is
20A, to prevent the sample resistance of current measurement loop from accumulating too
much heat due to excessive current that may cause the measurement error to increase, an extra
fan is installed to reduce the temperature rise of sample resistance. 66202 Digital Power
Meter will check if the fan is working as normal automatically under the conditions of 1.
power on and 2. when setting the current range to 8A & 20A. Following explains the
detection process.
(1) Power On
The 66202 Digital Power Meter executes fan detection automatically at power on. If
the fan is not working normally, the voltage measurement window will display a warning
message as Figure 4-31 shows and beeps continuously to inform users the fan is not
working correctly. Users can press Enter/Trig to ignore the warning and perform low
current range measurement.
(2) When Setting the Current Range to 8A, 20A
The 66202 Digital Power Meter will run fan detection as power on when setting the
current range to 8A and 20A for execution. If the fan is not working normally before or
during measurement, the voltage measurement window will display a warning message
as Figure 4-31 shows and beeps continuously to inform users the fan is not working
correctly. In this case, users cannot just press Enter/Trig to ignore it. It is suggested
to send the 66202 Digital Power Meter back to Chroma for repair.
