Important Safety Information
Note: This unit has been designed and tested for installation in areas
prone to earthquakes (zone 4). To ensure proper operation it must be
installed in a proper frame.
WARNING: Read all installation instructions before connecting a 5150 device to a
power source.
WARNING: The chassis of the 5150 should never be opened under any
circumstances. Opening the chassis will void the warranty.
The system chassis must be returned to Ciena for service or replacement.
Power supply modules and transceivers are field-replaceable, however, the modules
or transceivers must be returned to Ciena for service or replacement.
WARNING: Before working on equipment that is connected to power lines, remove
jewelry (including rings, necklaces, and watches). Metal objects will heat up when
connected to power and ground and can cause serious burns or weld the metal
object to the terminals.
WARNING: Do not work on the system or connect or disconnect cables during
periods of lightning activity
WARNING: To prevent ESD damage to electronic components, always use an ESD
wrist strap when handling modules.
WARNING: This equipment is to be installed in a Restricted Access Location (RAL)
and maintained by qualified service personnel only.
