Procedure 2-2
To Install 5150 in a Frame
Two frame mounting brackets are available. Use the one that suits your
installation.
Step Action
1 Install the frame bracket on the chassis as instructed in either:
• “Installing the 19” Frame Mount Bracket - 2 RU” on page 8-7
• “Installing the 23” Frame Mount Bracket - 2 RU” on page 8-8
Note: If your installation location does not allow rear access to the chassis,
the supplemental ground cable needs to be routed and connected to the rear
of the chassis before mounting the chassis.
2 Install supplemental ground. See “To Install Supplemental Ground” on page
2-18.
3 Install the 10 Gigabit Ethernet option modules (if needed). See “To Install the
10 Gigabit Option Modules” on page 2-19.
Note: The 10 Gigabit Ethernet Pluggable Option modules are not hot
swappable. The system must be powered down to install or replace these
modules.
4 Install the power supplies and connect power. Both AC and DC power supply
modules are available. For detailed instructions see either:
• “To Install an AC Power Supply” on page 2-20
• “To Install a DC Power Supply” on page 2-22
Verify that the PWR LED on the front of the device is green.
5 Install SFPs and XFPs, see “To Install a Pluggable Optic” on page 2-27.
6 Install faceplate cabling for the UNI and NNI connections. See “Connecting
Cables to the 5150” on page 2-12.
Note: Dress and secure the cables using local practices, ensuring that the
weight of the cable is supported and does not drag on the plug.
You have installed the 5150 in a frame.
