Procedure 4-4
To Replace a DC Power Supply Module
Note: Care should be taken to minimize the time that the system is
operating without two power supply modules installed. The fans in both
installed power supplies are required to maintain adequate cooling in the
system.
Step Action
1 Remove the new power supply module from the packaging and inspect it for
damage.
2 Remove power from the DC circuit that supplies power to the DC power
supply module being replaced.
The Input LED on the power supply will turn off.
3 Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the set screws on the terminal block and
remove the wires from the DC power supply.
Note: The power wiring may be connected to the handle of the power supply
using a cable tie to relieve the cord weight from the connector and to help
route the cable. If the power wiring is secured using a cable tie, you should
cut the cable tie before proceeding so that the power wiring is unsecured and
can be easily removed.
4 Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the captive hold down screw on the right
of the module.
Note: Complete step 5 through step 9 promptly to minimize the time that the
system is operating without two power supplies installed. Failure to follow this
recommendation could result in thermal issues within the system.
5 Pull the power supply module out of the slot and set it aside.
6 Slide the new power supply module into the empty slot.
7 Using a Phillips screwdriver, secure the module in place using the captive
hold down screw on the right of the module.
WARNING: Before performing the procedure, ensure that all power is off to the DC
circuit. Locate the circuit and switch it to the OFF position. Tape the circuit breaker
switch handle in the OFF position to prevent accidental closing of the circuit.
