Saving Configuration Changes
The following sample output shows a WIC configured as customer premises equipment, and the line is
up:

To prevent the loss of the router configuration, save it to NVRAM.

At this point you can proceed to the following:
Command Purpose
Step1
Router> enable
Password: password
Router#
Enters enable mode. Enter the password.
You have entered enable mode when the prompt
changes to Router#.
Step2
Router# copy running-config startup-config
Saves the configuration changes to NVRAM so
that they are not lost during resets, power cycles,
or power outages.
Step3
Router(config-if)# Ctrl-z
Router#
%SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by
console
Returns to enable mode.
This message is normal and does not indicate an
error.
