Designedtocontributetowardsthesafetyof
theoccupantsintheeventofviolentcollisions.
Theairbagssupplementtheactionoftheforce-
limitingseatbelts.
Ifacollisionoccurs,theelectronicdetectors
recordandanalysethefrontandsideimpacts
sustainedintheimpactdetectionzones:
- inthecaseofaseriousimpact,theairbags
aredeployedinstantlyandcontribute
towardsbetterprotectionoftheoccupants
ofthevehicle;immediatelyaftertheimpact,
theairbagsdeflaterapidlysothatthey
donothindervisibilityortheexitofthe
occupants,
- inthecaseofaminororrearimpactorin
certainroll-overconditions,theairbags
maynotbedeployed;theseatbeltalone
contributestowardsprovidingyour
protectioninthesesituations.
The airbags do not operate when the
ignition is switched off.
Thedeploymentofanairbagis
accompaniedbyaslightemission
ofsmokeandanoise,duetothe
detonationofthepyrotechniccharge
incorporatedinthesystem.
Thissmokeisnotharmful,butsensitive
individualsmayexperienceslight
irritation.
Thedetonationnoiseassociatedwith
thedeploymentofanairbagmayresult
inaslightlossofhearingforashort
time.
Thisequipmentwillonlydeployonce.
Ifasecondimpactoccurs(duringthe
sameorasubsequentaccident),the
airbagwillnotbedeployedagain.

Deployment
Theairbagsaredeployed,exceptthe
passenger'sfrontairbagifitisdeactivated,inthe
eventofaseriousfrontimpacttoallorpartofthe
frontimpactzoneA,inthelongitudinalcentreline
ofthevehicleonahorizontalplaneanddirected
fromthefronttotherearofthevehicle.
Thefrontairbaginflatesbetweenthethoraxand
headofthefrontoccupantofthevehicleandthe
steeringwheel,driver'sside,andthedashboard,
passenger'ssidetocushiontheirforward
movement.
Systemwhichprotectsthedriverandfront
passengerintheeventofaseriousfrontimpact
inordertolimittheriskofinjurytotheheadand
thorax.
Thedriver'sairbagisfittedinthecentreofthe
steeringwheel;thefrontpassenger'sairbagis
fittedinthedashboardabovetheglovebox.
