Thissystemisdesignedtoimprove
drivingsafety.
Itremainsthedriver'sresponsibilityto
continuouslymonitorthestateofthe
trafficandtoassessthedistancesand
relativespeedsofothervehicles.
ActiveCityBrakecaninno
circumstancesreplacetheneedfor
vigilanceonthepartofthedriver.
Neverlookatthelasersensorthrough
anopticalinstrument(magnifyingglass,
microscope...)atadistanceoflessthan
10centimetres:riskofeyeinjury.
Automaticbrakingoccurslaterthanif
donebythedriver,soastointervene
onlywhenthereisahighriskof
collision.
Principle
Usingalasersensorandacameralocatedat
thetopofthewindscreen,thissystemdetects
avehiclerunninginthesamedirectionor
stationaryaheadofyourvehicle.
Whennecessary,thevehicle'sbrakingsystem
isoperatedautomaticallytoreducethespeed
ofimpactortohelpavoidacollisionwiththe
vehicleahead.
Conditions for activation
ActiveCityBrakeonlyoperatesifthefollowing
conditionsaremet:
● theengineisrunning,
● thevehicleisinaforwardgear,
● totrigger the pre-collision alert:
- thespeedisbetween9and87mph
(15and140km/h),
- thedifferenceinspeedbetweenyour
vehicleandtheoneaheadismorethan
about9mph(15km/h),
● forbraking assistance:
- thespeedisbetweenabout18and
50mph(30and80km/h),
- thedifferenceinspeedbetweenyour
vehicleandtheoneaheadismorethan
about18mph(30km/h),
● forautomatic pre-collision braking:
- thespeedisbetweenabout6and
50mph(10and80km/h),
- thedifferenceinspeedbetweenyour
vehicleandtheoneaheadismorethan
about6mph(10km/h),
● thebrakingassistancesystems(ABS,
EBFD,EBA)arenotfaulty,
● thetrajectorycontrolsystems(TRC,DSC)
arenotdeactivatedorfaulty,
● thevehicleisnotinatightcorner,
● thesystemhasnotbeentriggeredduring
theprevious10seconds.
