F Uncliptheplasticcover,bypressingatthe
bottom.
F Fullyscrewinthetowingeye.
General recommendations
Observethelegislationinforceinyour
country.
Ensurethattheweightofthetowing
vehicleishigherthanthatofthetowed
vehicle.
Thedrivermustremainatthewheelof
thetowedvehicleandmusthaveavalid
drivinglicence.
Whentowingavehiclewithallfour
wheelsontheground,alwaysusean
approvedtowingarm;ropeandstraps
areprohibited.
Thetowingvehiclemustmoveoffgently.
Whentowingavehiclewiththeengine
off,thereisnolongeranypower
assistanceforbrakingorsteering.
Inthefollowingcases,youmustalways
callonaprofessionalrecoveryservice:
- vehiclebrokendownonamotorway
orfastroad,
- four-wheeldrivevehicle,
- whenitisnotpossibletoputthe
gearboxintoneutral,unlockthe
steering,orreleasetheparkingbrake,
- towingwithonlytwowheelsonthe
ground,
- wherethereisnoapprovedtowing
armavailable...
Yourvehiclecanonlybetowedfrom
the front.
F Installthetowingarm.
F Withamanualgearbox:putthegearlever
intoneutral.
F WithanETGgearbox:placetheselectorat
position N.
Never use the radiator crossmember.
Whenbeingtowed,thespeedlimiter
shouldbedectivated,aswellasthe
"ActiveCityBrake"system(iffittedto
yourvehicle).
Yourvehicleisnotdesignedtotowatraileror
useatowbar.
Failuretofollowthisadvicemayresultin
damagetocertaincomponents(braking,
transmission,...)andtheabsenceofbraking
assistancewhentheengineisrestarted.
F Unlockthesteeringandreleasethe
parkingbrake.
F Switchonthehazardwarninglampson
bothvehicles.
