To set up the Connection watchdog
Do as follows:
1. Under Advanced, select Connection watchdog.
2. Select Enable Connection watchdog.
3. At Ping interval (minutes) select the interval in minutes between the ping commands.
4. Select the Number of retries before the terminal restarts.
5. Select the Ping mode.
• Ping always:
Always send ping, regardless of data traffic.
• Ping when no traffic:
Send ping only if no data traffic is ongoing.
6. Type in the Primary and optionally the Secondary and Tertiary IP address.
This is the IP address of the server(s) to which the terminal will send ping commands.
7. Click Save.
Terminal watchdog
The Terminal watchdog continuously monitors the operational status of the terminal and
allows you to perform the following actions at regular intervals (set by the user):
• Wake up the terminal from power save mode
• Start a data connection (PDP context)
• Check your IP connection (ping - similar to Connection watchdog)
The terminal continuously monitors:
• The time (monitors that UTC time is received from GPS at startup)
• CS-attach (the status of circuit-switched connection)
If any of the actions fail, the terminal restarts.
Use a server that is reliable and that responds to ICMP Echo Requests.
The EXPLORER 540 operates with UTC time, local time is not available.
