7 | HOW TO CHANGE THE COMPLETE CASSETTE

Remove the quick release skewer from the rear hub.
Unscrew the cassette body locking nut with a pinion whip and a cassette tool. WARNING ! use the cassette tool
compatible with your cassette body.
Remove each pinion from the cassette body.
Unscrew the external screws of the rear hub. Use a 15 mm flat key (6 mm thickness) to remove the screw that is on
the opposite cassette side. For the screw that is on the cassette side, use a 15 mm flat key (2 mm thickness) or a
5 mm allen key in the axle place (drawing A,B,C).
WARNING: the screws are blocked with a light locknut glue (loctite 225).
Remove the cassette body and the steel spacer, make sure you don’t lose the 3 spring and 3 pawls (drawing D).
Remove the axle from the hub (drawing E).
Clean the threading of the screws and axle with some acetone (drawing F).
Clean the notched crown with a dry cloth and put some grease on the notched crown as well as on the flat surface
ahead (drawing G).
Check the bearing status.
If you notice some drops of water inside the hub, let the hub dry.
Lubricate the plain surface of the axle (not the threadings).
Set the axle in the hub’s body
(drawing H).
Set the screw on the opposite cassette side. Use some light locknut glue (drawing I).
Set the steel spacer and put some grease on the external side of the steel spacer (drawing J).
Install the cassette body on the axle (drawing K).
Set each of the 3 pawls and 3 springs with a screw driver (drawing L).
Set entirely the cassette body into the hub’s body (drawing M).
Screw the opposite cassette side screw. Use some light locknut glue.
Shimano: ref: 400146 Ext. Alu screw for Cassette side 12,9 mm
Campagnolo: ref: 400179 Ext. Alu screw for Cassette side 15,4 mm
Block the screws.
WARNING: the maximum tightening torque is 5Nm. Use a dynamometric in order to avoid the
precision bearings.
Lubricate the outside part of the cassette body.
Set the pinions on the cassette body following the constructor advices.
