4.7 Power Monitoring Module
4.7.1 Functions of the Power Monitoring Module
The Power Monitoring Module is shown in Figure 11, page 35. The Power Monitoring Module is a
standard part of the Vortex system.
Note: for multiple Vortex Rack, Vortex panel and Vortex DIN systems supplied by Crowcon, the
Power Monitoring Module may have been replaced by a single Power Management System, which
meets the EMC and Low Voltage Directive requirements.
If the backup batteries are fitted and the main ac power supply is lost, the system automatically
switches over to the standby battery operation. If loss of power continues, the battery is disconnected
from the system to prevent it from being over-discharged and permanently damaged.
The main features of the Power Monitoring Module are listed in Table 16.
