Usingaturkeybasterorothersuctiondevice,removeasmuchofthebrake fluidinthemastercylinder
aspossible.Exercisecautiontopreventanybrakefluidspillage.Ifanyspillageoccurs,wipeupthe
spilledbrakefluidimmediately(itwilldamagepaintedorplasticsurfaces).
Removethecaliper
bleedcapandattachasmalldiametertubetothecaliperbleedfitting.Routethe
tubetoareceptacle.
Addfreshbrakefluidtothemastercylinder.
Openthecaliperbleedfittingbyunscrewingitslightly(turnitcounterclockwisetodoso)anddepress
thebrakelevertopumpbrake
fluidoutthroughthecaliperbleedfitting.Priortoallowingthebrake
levertoreturn,closethecaliperbleedfittingbyturningitclockwise.
Repeattheprocessuntilfreshbrakefluidexitsthecaliper.Closethecaliperbleedfittingandreplacethe
caliperbleedfittingcap.Addbrakefluid
tothemastercylindersuchthattheupperleveliswithin1/8‐
inchofthetop(donotoverfillthemastercylinder).Replacethemastercylindercoverandthescrews
securingittothemastercylinder.Tightenthescrews.
Pumpthebrakepedalseveraltimes.Operatethemotorcycletoassuresatisfactory
brakeperformance.
BleedingtheBrakes
Ifairgetsintothebrakelines,brakingperformancewillbediminished.Youshouldbleedthebrakes
onceeveryyear,anytimethebrakesfeelspongyorsoft,orifthebrakefluiddropsbelowthelevelofthe
mastercylinderviewport.Again,use
onlyDOT4brakefluid.
