ExhaustSystem

Theexhaustsystemconsistsoftheexhaustpipe,themuffler,heatshieldsonthemufflerandtheexhaust
pipe,agasket,andrelatedmountingfasteners.Thesecomponentsareshowninthephotosbelow.




Theexhaustsystemfunctionsaretodischargeexhaustgas,toreducenoise,toeliminateflamesorsparks
fromtheexhaust,andtoassistintheemissionscontrolprocess.Themufflercontainsanintegral
catalyticconverter.Theexhaustpipeismadeofacurvedsteeltube.Ittransportsexhaustgasfrom
the
enginetothemuffler.

Toremovetheexhaustsystem,removethefastenersfromthemuffler,theexhaustpipe,andthemuffler
support.Checkthemufflersuspensionsupportforanycracksandrepairorreplaceifnecessary.Check
theexhaustmufflersealandreplaceitifnecessary.Checkthemuffler
foranycracksorotherdamage,
andrepairorreplaceitifnecessary.

Donotoperatethemotorcyclewithoutthemuffler.Installanewsealwasherwhenassemblingand
disassemblingthemuffler.

