Reassembletheforksinthesamemannerastheyweredisassembled,leavingtheforkcapsloosesothat
youcanaddnewforkoil.Add11.2ouncestoeachforkusingafunnel.Replacetheforkcaps.Tighten
allfasteners.
RepairingaLeakingForkSeal
Iftheforksealleaks
becauseitwasdamagedbygritorsomeotherattributablecause,youneedto
replaceonlytheleakingseal.Ifthesealstartedleakingduetoageinduceddegradation,youshouldto
replacethesealsonbothsidesoftheforks.
Putawrenchontheboltheadinsidethe
forkspring,andunscrewtheforkcapfromtheforkrodthat
runsthroughthecenteroftheforkspring.Theforkcapanditswasherwillseparatefromtheforkrod.
Pulltheforkspringcompletelyoutofthefork.Notethattheforkspringisacompound
spring.The
moretightlywoundcoilsalwaysgotowardthelowerendofthefork,asshowninthephotobelow.At
thispoint,putashopragorapapertowelintheopeningatthetopofthefork(wheretheforkcap
was).Therewillstillberesidual
oilintheforkandthiswillpreventspillage.
