Atthispoint,thecableshouldbedisconnectedatbothends.
Clutchcableinstallationisthereverseofremoval.Reattachtheclutchcableatbothendsandadjust
theclutchsothatyouhave¼to½inchoffreeplayattheclutchlevertip.Clutchadjustmentiscovered
in
theclutchadjustmentprocesssectionofthisServiceManualbelow.
Therearetwoareasinwhichadjustmentscanbemadetotheclutch.Thesearethelowerendofthe
clutchcable(whereitattachestotheleverontheenginecase),andtheupperendoftheclutchcable
(whereitattachestothelever).
Theprimaryfunctionofthelowerendofthe
clutchcableadjustingmechanismistoremove
mostoftheslackfromtheclutchcable.
Adjustthelowerendoftheclutchcableadjusting
mechanismsothatitisaboutinthemiddleofits
adjustmentrange.Thiswillremovenearlyall
slackfromtheclut chcable.Thisisshowninthe
photototheright.Thefinaladjustmentwillbe
madeatthehandlebarclutchlever.
Onceyou’vedoneadjustedthelowerendoftheclutchcable,adjusttheknurledadjustmentknowatthe
handlebarclutchleversuchthatthereisabout10mmto20mmoffreeplayattheendoftheclutch
lever.Whenyou’vedonethat,locktheknurledadjustmentknobinplace
withtheknurledlock
nut.Pulltherubbergrommetbackovertheadjustmentmechanism.
