Mounting the indoor unit above the
heat pump will require an inverted loop
in the suction line adjacent or near the
connection to the indoor unit.
The top of the loop must be slightly higher
than the top of the unit. The trap can prevent
liquid compression of the compressor for
start- up period.

Mounting the heat pump above the indoor unit will require an
oil trap that is vertically centered between the heat pump and
indoor unit the vertical elevation exceeds 80 ft.
The trap can be constructed from standard refrigerant fittings as shown
in the figure (bottom left).
