BACnet Device Address Rules
• MSTP MAC Addresses must be unique for all devices
connected to the same RS485 network.
• MSTP MAC Address is congurable via parameter 5302
in MD5. 1..127 = range of supported Master addresses
for MD5
• Network Number must be unique for each network (IP
and MSTP)
• Network Number of 0 is reserved for broadcasts
• Device Object IDs must be unique across the entire
BACnet network, all IP and MSTP subnetworks.
• Device Object IDs are 22 bits, congurable via
parameters 5311 and 5317 in MD5.
• The example Network Numbers and DeviceOIDs show
a good way to maintain unique DeviceOIDs across the
network.
