Check, tension and change
belts only with the engine off.
Refit belt guard, if provided.
6.5.8 Tensioning Alternator Belt
1012 E
z Slacken off bolts 1, 2 and 4.
z Move alternator 5 in direction of arrow by
turning bolt 3 until correct belt tension is
achieved.
z Tighten bolts 1, 2 and 4.
6.5.9 Changing Alternator Belt
1012 E
z Remove fuel pump belt as described in 6.5.7.
z Slacken off bolts 1, 2 and 4.
z Adjust bolt 3 until the V-belt can be removed.
z Fit new belt.
z Adjust bolt 3 until the correct belt tension is
achieved.
z Tighten bolts 1, 2 and 4.
z Reinstall fuel pump belt and tension as
described in 6.5.6.
