USPENSION/STEERING
Tie-Rod Installation
The right and left tie-rods are identical.
Install the tie-rod with the flattened area [A] located inboard.
Tighten:
Torque - Tie-Rod End Nuts: 47 N-m (4.8 kgf-m, 35 ft-lb)
Inspect the toe-in if necessary
Tie-Rod End Removal
Remove the tie-rod (see Tie-Rod Removal)
Holding the tie-rod flattened area; loosen the locknut [A] and
unscrews the tie-rod end [B].
Tie-Rod End Installation
Install the tie-rod ends so that the tie-rod has the correct length
[A], and the both visible thread length [B] make equal.
Tie-Rod Length Standard: 398 mm
Tighten:
Torque –
Tie-Rod adjusting Sleeve Locknut:
27 N-m (2.8 kgf-m, 20 ft-lb)
Steering Maintenance
Steering Inspection
Turn the handlebar left and right, and check the steering action.
 If the steering is not smooth, or if the steering binds or catches
before the stop, lubricate the steering.
Check the steering action again.

NOTE
The locknut on the tie-rod has left-hand threads. Turn the
wrench clockwise for loosening.
CAUTION
Do not remove the grease seal. It is packed with grease.
NOTE
The cables and wires will have some effect on the steering
action which must be taken into account.
