1.3 Preliminary Checks

If the dimensions on the gate post or the position of the
hinge do not allow Dimension A and/or B to be kept within
the required value, make a recess in the gate post as
shown in figure 4 to accommodate the rear bracket. The
height of the recess should be a minimum of 8 inches.
To insure trouble free operation, insure that the gate(s)
falls within the following specifications.
• Maximum length of the gate is 14 feet..
• The gate frame is strong and rigid.
• The gate is mounted on a good set of ball bearing
hinges.
• The gate swings freely without any binding throughout its entire travel.
• If the actuator is to be mounted in the center of the gate, a support plate must be added that
spans the entire length of the gate. This will provide a secure fix point for the front bracket.
Failure to provide a secure fix point for the front bracket can cause the actuator to
damage the gate (fig. 5).
