Rsp Safety Considerations
WARNINGS:
! Do not rely upon impedance respiration monitoring
as the sole method for detecting the cessation of
breathing. Patients at risk for respiratory distress
should be observed closely and heart rate alarms
should be enabled and set appropriately. The use of
additional methods for respiratory monitoring, such
as etCO
2
and SpO
2
are recommended whenever pos-
sible.
! Large amplitude pacer spikes (100 mV or greater)
may interfere with the monitor’s ability to monitor
respiration.
! Impedance respiration monitoring and pacemaker
spike detection are inoperative when using either the
shielded blue leads or the ESU block.
