13.DOUBLE-FEED DETECTION FUNCTION
Using the sensor for measuring paper thickness, the thickness of paper fed by preset
settings is read as the reference data, and compared with the data of the paper collated.
When the difference between those data is large, it determines that a double-feed has
occurred.
This function is called double-feed detection.
The sensor is inside the paper feed gate of
each bin.
The light-emitting sensor located below paper emits
some amount of light at the light receiving sensor lo-
cated above paper. The sensor above measures the
light amount penetrating the paper from below.
• Sensor reading range:
The sensors read along the line 160 mm from the side
edge ranging from the point 10 mm off the top edge up
to 110 mm.
When a black print is at this position, the light amount
on the paper drops, disabling the sensor from operat-
ing normally. In such cases, turn off the double-feed
detection sensor.
For details on setting, refer to "Switching the double-
feed detection sensor between ON/OFF" ( page
35).
Note When using the double-feed detection sen-
sor at OFF, the machine will not stop even if
double-feed error occurs.
