INNOVATION AND FLEXIBILITY
THE
INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING MANUAL
6.4 Building entry Closure Requirements
Direct Install (DI) and Direct Bury (DB) products have moisture protection but do not have any fire protection and should therefore terminate and be
connected to the internal products within 2m when entering a customer premises.
For single dwelling applications where a small fibre count is needed (typically 2 fibres) a single microduct closure may be used. This customer lead in
closure (CLI) is manufactured from UV resistant ABS making it tough and durable and suitable for placement on an external wall.
Installation Points
External/Internal or External only products available
Can accommodate two blocking connectors
Positive m/d management
Strong single piece moulding
Optimised design to accommodate BF & Cable
Designed to be stand alone or combined with BFGS
When more than one m/d is needed at the building a similar product may be used which allows up to seven microducts to be contained within it. This
external lead in closure, code 7412 can be used as a stand alone unit or it can be combined with an internal version, product code 7119 which will
allow the microduct and fibre to have controlled bend radii when entering from the outside.
On the inside of the building a gas seal box can be included which is used to gas seal the microduct.

NOTE: An external customer
lead in closure would sit
on the outside and is an
identical part to that of the
top box shown here. It is
however UV resistant.

If the microduct enters from
within the building then no bend
management is needed. Regardless
of entry location gas blocking
of both the interstices and the
microduct is essential.
