VENDING SYSTEMS
Ice Vending Considerations
Quantity Dispensed Per Vend - The amount of ice dispensed per vend is not adjustable. All
Everest ice vending machines are factory set and calibrated to dispense around an a 100lb ven
The exact quantity of ice dispensed per vend is somewhat variable and is based on things like
the ice cube size, the ice bridging width, saddle size, etc. d. As part of the user interface
options, operators can define what unit of measure and what quantity will be displayed on the
main vend screen for ice vends. Changing these values does not have any effect on the
amount of ice dispensed per vend.
Ice Vending Disabled - There are criteria that the machine monitors and sometimes causes the
machine to disable the ability to vend ice temporarily. If ice vending is disabled, then the word
“DISABLED” will replace the price on the main vending screen and the ice vend button will not
light even when there is enough funds to purchase an ice vend. When disabled, pressing the
button will have no effect.
Ice Level Low - There is a reflective sensor in the machine that constantly reads the
approximate level of ice in the barrel. There is an ice level low setting on the
“machine_operations” tab that enables the sensor to temporarily disable ice vending if the level
of ice in the barrel is too low. If this feature is turned ON, then there is also a red LED light on
the LF door of the machine that will light to inform users that ice vending is temporarily disabled
until the cuber has time to make more ice and partially refill the barrel. Depending upon the
model of the cuber installed, it could be between 15-45 minutes before enough ice is available
that the sensor will turn off the warning LED and re-enable ice vending.
The operator can disable this feature by setting the ice level low setting on “machine_opertions”
tab to zero. This will not affect the machine, the diagnostics, or the ice cuber production in any
way. It will simply disable the ice level low check that temporarily disables ice vending when the
ice level in the barrel is too low. It will allow users to vend ice even if there is very little or no ice
remaining in the barrel so the user will buy the vend but receive too little or no ice. It should
only be disabled in certain controlled situations where there is a real reason to disable the
feature.
Incoming Voltage Is Too Low - If the machine senses that the incoming AC voltage is too low,
then it will temporarily disable ice vending because the main motor that turns the barrel to
dispense ice might be damaged by operating at low voltages below operating specifications.
Ice Vend Failure - If the barrel spins for 10 seconds ( about one and a half revolutions) without
the barrel rotation sensor activating, then the machine stops the barrel and notifies the machine
