of an ice vend failure. However this error condition often will self-recover because then next
time an ice vend is activated, the barrel will vend ice and then stop at the correct position. As
soon as the ice vend failure is sent to the machine, the error is cleared.
If this error occurs then the user’s funds for this vend are automatically added back to the LCD
balance.
Water Vending Considerations
Quantity Dispensed Per Vend - The quantity of water dispensed per vend is adjustable. The
exact quantity of water dispensed per vend is exceptionally accurate and will never vary more
than +/- 2% from the amount specified by the operator
Note: it is possible to get more accurate water vends. For operators that required a more
accurate water vend, please reach out to Everest’s Technical Support Line for more details.
It is up to the operator to specify on the “machine_vending” tab within Akoona.net, how much
water they want to dispense on each vend and also how they want to present the water vend
size to the user. Operators can define what unit of measure and what quantity will be displayed
on the main vend screen for water vends. Changing these values immediately updates the
machine and changes all future water vends and user interface.
Unless otherwise stated by the customer, all Everest machines will be set at a 5 gallon water
dispensed amount.
Water Vending Disabled - There are criterion that the machine monitors that can sometimes
cause the machine to disable the ability to vend water temporarily. If water vending is disabled,
then the word “DISABLED” will replace the price on the main vending screen and the water
vend button will not light even when there are enough funds to purchase a water vend. When
disabled, pressing the button will have no effect.
Water Pressure Low - The third stage water pressure sensor is constantly monitored and if it
falls below a preset level, then water vending is temporarily disabled because it would take too
long to dispense or there is no water pressure.
Water Vend Failure - If during a water vend, the water flow meter does not see any pulses for
10 seconds then it stops the water vend and notifies the machine of a water vend failure. This
problem usually occurs on the first vend after there is a loss of incoming water pressure. It is
because when there is a loss of pressure, often the machine’s systems stay pressurized
(because there is a backflow preventer or because no other valve in the building releasing the
pressure) so the machine has no way of knowing that the water pressure is off. As soon as the
vend is initiated, the pressure will drop, the vend will fail. The machine will be notified, and the
machine will automatically disable water vending until pressure is restored.
