Also the salt used to melt snow and ice causes a
decrease in the effi ciency of the braking system,
as does grease, oil and brake fl uid; in this case it is
best to change the pads.
Whenever the pads are changed, take care for he
fi rst 200 km when braking, as the pads do not im-
mediately adhere perfectly to the disk.
During this period it is preferable to brake early
and to apply the brake lever more forcefully, while
avoiding abrupt and prolonged braking so as not
to burn the pads and disks. Do not use the vehicle
if brake fl uid is detected leaking from the braking
system.
The vehicle is fi tted with disk brakes both at the
front and the rear, with separate hydraulic circuits.
Over a period of time the hydraulic system can
cause variations in the play of the brake levers or
an elastic resistance.
If you are unable to carry out the necessary con-
trols or doubt the safety of the vehicle, contact a
FANTIC MOTOR Dealer.
Also check that the braking system pipes are not
twisted, worn or present cracks, cuts or slits.
Take care that water or dust do not accidentally
enter the hydraulic system. As the pads become
worn the level of fl uid inside the tanks decreases to
automatically compensate the wear.
FRONT BRAKE
Check that the brake fl uid level is over the “MIN”
mark. Check the pads and disks for wear and if they
do not need replacing, proceed with topping up.

FRONT BRAKE TOPPING UP
Using a Phillips screwdriver loosen the two screws
securing the brake fl uid tank cover. Remove the lat-
ter and its gasket, taking care to place them on a
clean surface. Top up with suitable brake fl uid, see
(LUBRICANTS), taking care not to exceed the “MAX”
level positioned inside the fl uid tank.
When pads or disks are worn, never top up to the
“MAX” level because if these parts are subse-
quently replaced, the fl uid could fl ow out of its
tank. If, on the contrary, these parts have been
replaced, it is advisable to top up to the “MAX”
level.
Replace the gasket and replace the cover; insert
and tighten the two screws and wipe the surfaces
clean with a cloth if there has been any spillage.
Check braking effi ciency and check the braking
system for leaks; in the event of malfunction, con-
sult a FANTIC MOTOR Dealer.
