COOLANT
The coolant is:
- infl ammable and emits invisible fl ames;
- harmful by inhalation, if swallowed or in
contact with skin, with possible serious conse-
quences;;
- irritating to skin;
- harmful to the soil and aquatic environment,
harmful to fl ora and fauna.
To be avoided:
- contact with skin;
- inhalation of vapours;
- ingestion;
- release to the environment;
- exposure of coolant to air.
During fi lling and in the vicinity of coolant
vapours:
- do not smoke;
- do not use naked fl ames, sparks or any other
source of ignition;
- switch o the engine and the lights.
If swallowed do not induce vomiting but seek med-
ical advice immediately (fi rst aid post), indicating
the cause and how the accident occurred.
If the time required to reach a fi rst aid post exceeds
one hour, induce vomiting but in any case seek
medical attention.
After contact with skin, wash the affected part im-
mediately with soap and water, repeating the oper-
ation until completely clean.
In case of contact with eyes or ears, rinse the affect-
ed parts immediately with plenty of water and seek
medical advice immediately (fi rst aid post), indi-
cating the cause and how the accident occurred.
After contact with clothes, remove contaminated
articles and wash immediately with plenty of water
and soap. Change the dirty clothes, which must be
washed as soon as possible. Avoid coolant spilling
or overfl owing from the tank; if it comes into con-
tact with overheated engine parts it could cause a
fi re with invisible fl ames.
If coolant is accidentally spilt, clean the affected
area thoroughly.
Always wear latex gloves to protect hands when
carrying out maintenance.
NOTE: an increase in the temperature causes the
coolant to increase in volume. The coolant has a
specifi c “fi ll level”, see (FILL LEVEL).
There is an air gap between the “fi ll level” and a
completely full designed to allow the coolant vol-
ume to increase without danger of it leaking out.
NOTE: during refi lling, do not exceed the “fi ll lev-
el”. At the end of refi lling, always close the fi ller cap
well.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. DISPOSE OF
THE COOLANT AT A SPECIAL WASTE COLLECTION
POINT.
CONTROL AND TOPPING UP
For the maintenance intervals, see (PERIODIC
MAINTENANCE CHARTS), under:
- coolant.
Do not use the vehicle if the coolant level is below
the minimum level.
For the type of coolant to be used, see (LUBRI-
CANTS) under:
- coolant.
Only use coolant of the specifi ed type. If other
types are used, there is a build-up of mineral
salts that affect the effi ciency of the cooling sys-
tem. To change the liquid, it is advisable to go to
a FANTIC MOTOR Dealer.
