6.6 TERMINAL CONNECTORS SAFE AREA APPLICATIONS - TYPE PF, PM
Hazardous area installations
This chapter applies to electrical installation of the F012-P with Type PM or PF. These Types
are not fit for use in Hazardous Areas!
Section 7: Intrinsically safe applications[»36] gives specific information regarding intrinsically
safe installation. Only F-Series with Type XI are fit for use in Hazardous Areas.
Take notice of all safety and precautionary measures indicated in Section 6.4: Electrical
installation[»25] and review Section 6.4.3: Field wiring connections[»26] and Section 6.4.4: Power
supply[»27] before applying any field or power supply wiring.
The following terminal connectors are available on the F012-P when supplied with Type PF or PM.

6.6.1 TERMINALS GND-1-2: POWER SUPPLY
To power the F012-P with a power supply option of type PF or type PM, connect a suitable power
supply to the terminals as indicated in below table.
Note: NC is not connected.

The total consumption of the sensor, transistor output (Type OA) and backlight (Type ZB)
may not exceed 400 mA @ 24 V DC.
Risk of equipment damage
Be very careful when connecting the common ground of the system to Protective Earth (PE).
Connecting the common ground to Protective Earth (PE) (especially when multiple power
supplies are connected) can cause ground loop currents that could damage the equipment.
