6.6.2 TERMINALS 5-7: FLOWMETER INPUT
Three basic types of flowmeter signals can be connected to the F012-P: pulse, active pulse or coil.
The screen of the signal wire can be connected to the common ground terminal (see Section 6.4.3:
Field wiring connections[»26]).
The input signal type has to be selected with the correct SETUP-function (
5.1: FLOWMETER >
SIGNAL[»16]).
To configure the sensor supply, see Section 6.4.5: Sensor supply[»27] for details.
Coil
The F012-P is suitable for use with flowmeters with a coil output signal. Two sensitivity levels can be
selected with the SETUP-function (
5.1: FLOWMETER > SIGNAL[»16]):
● COIL LO: sensitivity from about 90 mV p-p
● COIL HI: sensitivity from about 20 mV p-p
● Type ZF: COIL HI sensitivity from about 10 mV p-p
● Type ZG: COIL HI sensitivity from about 5 mV p-p.

NPN
The F012-P is suitable for use with flowmeters with an NPN output signal. For reliable pulse
detection, the pulse amplitude has to go below 1.2 V. Signal setting NPN-LP employs a low-pass
signal noise filter, which limits the maximum input frequency (
5.1: FLOWMETER > SIGNAL[»16]).

PNP
The F012-P is suitable for use with flowmeters with a PNP output signal. For a reliable pulse
detection, the pulse amplitude has to go above 1.2 V. Signal setting PNP-LP employs a low-pass
signal noise filter, which limits the maximum input frequency (
5.1: FLOWMETER > SIGNAL[»16]).
