9. Press the following sequence of softkeys:
INSTMT SETUP, OUTPUT SETUP, φ & REF
SETUP.
10. Press the REF CLK softkey to select “ext.”
11. Press the Pkey.
Sourcing Current with Parallel-Connected 5520As
You can connect two or more 5520As to source
current in parallel. This technique allows you to
source current greater than ±20A. You must
synchronize the Calibrators in order to have their
output currents in phase. Proceed as follows to
accomplish this:
1. With both 5520As in standby mode, make
the connections as shown in the next figure.
2. On 5520A #2, select external reference, set
the output to the desired ac current level, and
activate output mode.
3. On 5520A #1, set the output to the desired ac
current level, and activate output mode. This
sends a sync pulse to 5520A #2. Now both
5520As are sourcing current in phase, in
parallel.
