A Warning identifies conditions and procedures that are dangerous to the user. A Caution
identifies conditions and procedures that can cause damage to the Product or the equipment
under test.
W Caution
• The drain valve on the back of the Bath must be closed before you attempt to fill
the tank with fluid.
• Always operate this instrument at room temperature 5 °C to 35 °C (41 °F to 95 °F).
Allow sufficient air circulation by leaving at least 15 cm (6 in) of clearance around
the Product.
• When you fill the tank, make sure the immersion coils are completely covered.
• Do not fill above the stir baffle, see Figure 2.
• Do not overfill the Bath. Overflowing fluid can damage the electrical system. Make
sure to allow for thermal expansion of the fluid as the Bath temperature increases.
See Parts and Controls for specific instructions.
• Do not exceed the recommended fluid viscosity of any fluid.
• Read Bath Use, before you place the Bath into service.
• Do not turn on the Bath without fluid in the tank and the heating coils fully
immersed. See Rear Panel and the Fluid Expansion Reservoir.
• Do not change the values of the Bath calibration constants from the factory-set
values. Correct setting of these parameters is important for the safety and proper
Bath operation.
• The refrigeration can be damaged or the lifetime shortened if the set-point
temperature is set >60 °C for >1 hour with the refrigeration manually on. Make sure
that the refrigeration is off when the Bath is used >60 °C.
• The Factory Reset Sequence should be performed only by authorized personnel if
no other action is successful to correct a malfunction, see Table 6. You must have
a copy of the most recent Report of Test to restore the test parameters.
• Do not operate the Product in an excessively wet, oily, dusty, or dirty environment.
Silicone oils require additional ventilation to prevent an oily, dirty environment.
• Most probes have handle temperature limits. Make sure that the probe handle
temperature limit is not exceeded in the air above the Product.
• The Product and any thermometer probes used with the Product are sensitive
instruments that are easily damaged. Handle these devices with care. Do not allow
them to be dropped, struck, stressed, or overheated.
